Richard Blanco
Richard Blanco was selected by President Obama as the fifth inaugural poet in U.S. history. Born in Madrid to Cuban exile parents and raised in Miami, cultural identity characterizes his many collections of award-winning poetry and prose. Blanco was the first Poet Laureate for Miami-Dade County, Florida, is an associate professor of creative writing at Florida International University, and the recipient of the National Endowment for the Humanities medal presented by President Joe Biden.
